Yukon Nominee Program 2026: Eligibility & Requirements

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is a Canadian immigration pathway for skilled foreign workers who have a qualifying job offer from a Yukon employer. It helps Yukon address labour shortages while providing eligible workers with a pathway to Canadian permanent residence.

Yukon nominates eligible candidates, but Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) makes the final decision on permanent residence.

What Is the Yukon Nominee Program?

YNP is an employer-driven Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) operated by the Government of Yukon.

It helps eligible Yukon employers recruit foreign workers for positions that cannot be filled by Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

The program can be relevant to skilled workers, international workers already in Yukon, and Express Entry candidates with a qualifying Yukon job offer.

Yukon Nominee Program Streams

YNP has three main streams:

1. Skilled Worker

For workers with eligible TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 job offers. Applicants need relevant work experience and must meet the required language and education criteria.

2. Critical Impact Worker

For eligible TEER 4 or 5 positions. This stream can suit workers with experience in occupations that meet Yukon’s labour market needs.

3. Yukon Express Entry

For candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool who qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class or Federal Skilled Trades Program.

A Yukon nomination through an Express Entry-linked stream can provide 600 additional CRS points.

Who Can Apply for YNP?

Requirements vary by stream, but applicants generally need:

  • A qualifying job offer from an eligible Yukon employer
  • Relevant education and work experience
  • Required language proficiency
  • Legal status to work in Canada, where applicable
  • A genuine intention to live and work in Yukon

The minimum language requirement depends on the job’s TEER category. For example, TEER 0–1 positions generally require CLB 6, TEER 2–3 require CLB 5, and TEER 4–5 require CLB 4.

How Does YNP Work in 2026?

Yukon has introduced an Expression of Interest (EOI) process for 2026.

The territory received a maximum allocation of 282 nominations for 2026. Employers submit EOIs during designated intake periods, and Yukon ranks submissions based on its current priorities. Selected employers can then submit full applications.

Yukon is prioritizing areas such as healthcare, rural employers, Yukon graduates, Francophone workers and certain foreign nationals already working in the territory.

YNP Application Process

The process generally follows these steps:

  1. Find a qualifying Yukon job and employer.
  2. The employer submits an EOI.
  3. If selected, the employer submits the required application.
  4. Yukon assesses the nomination.
  5. If nominated, the worker applies for PR through IRCC.
  6. IRCC makes the final PR decision.

Is the Yukon Nominee Program Still Open?

Yes. YNP is operating in 2026, although it has a limited nomination allocation and intake periods.

Program requirements and priorities can change, so applicants should check the latest Yukon government updates before applying.

Common YNP Mistakes

Avoid:

  • Assuming any Yukon job qualifies
  • Choosing a NOC based only on job title
  • Ignoring TEER requirements
  • Applying with expired language results
  • Submitting incomplete documents
  • Assuming nomination automatically guarantees PR

Final Takeaway

The Yukon Nominee Program can be an option for skilled workers who have the right experience, language ability and a qualifying Yukon job offer.

Before applying, check your NOC, TEER category, work experience, language score, employer eligibility and current Yukon priorities.
